1.Binoculars. Although it may be tempting to get a cheap pair of binoculars, much of the bird watching experience and enjoyment will come from how well you can see the birds. We recommend you look for 7-8 power, which is usually the most comfortable on your eyes.

Below are two pairs of binoculars you may want to consider when making a selection.

Waterproof & Fogproof binoculars.
Bushnell Legend Ultra HD Binoculars.

2. Bird Guide. In order to understand what you are seeing, you will need a  bird guide to identify and learn about the different types of birds.

Take a look at our Cape Canary® guide.

3. Bird Feeders. Although spending time outdoors and traveling to learn about birds can be very enjoyable, you may also want to attract wild birds to your back yard and start to learn more about them. Bird watching in your back yard can be a great family activity and you will be surprise at how many different types of birds live in your local area. Take a look at our window birds feeders

4. Watch “The Big Year” Movie! Thinking of having a movie night?
We recommend you watch this Steve Martin comedy.

5. More Advanced. More Tools. As you get a little more serious about bird watching, you may want to invest in a bird scope. Although they are not cheap, they will allow you to see specific details that won’t be as clear with your binoculars.
Here is a good article that talks about how to select a good scope.
